Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Aug 16, 2012 7:43 am Hi, I have an issue with a leaning fence. The ground level on my side is higher than my neighbours on the other side, and the fence is now leaning over towards his property. The simplest solution for me is to install secondary fence posts next to the existing (leaning) fence, then strap the old to the new. (see http://imgur.com/AVFcO for a beautifully made diagram). Will this be enough to straighten the fence? How deep should the holes be for the secondary posts? http://imgur.com/0k47P Thank you! Re: Leaning Fence Issues 2Aug 22, 2012 11:41 pm I should have thought that this situation requires a retaining wall....? Re: Leaning Fence Issues 4Sep 09, 2012 9:39 am You are using the fence as a retaining wall. Any attempt to reinforce the posts will only result in the panels failing. If you want to save the fence remove the soil from your side of the fence. You can put a low retaining wall next to the fence on your side to bring the soil back up to level just leave a 100mm gap to the fence. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
