Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Feb 07, 2012 7:11 pm hi all we built our home approximatly 18mths ago and we are having water issues under our home. there is a conrete footing around the perimater (600mmx600mm) and bricks upto 1700mm to the rear (lowest point of yard). The front is 900mm high brick built up with soil and concrete covered (highest point of our yard). We still get water pooling under the house. All the soil under there is soaked to the point that when walked on we sink to over our boots. we live in the Newcastle area The question is what can we do or who do we call (Plumber? Landscaper?) thanks shane_o Re: Water under our home 2Feb 07, 2012 9:06 pm I would start by calling the builder as you have serious problems Arfur Re: Water under our home 3Feb 10, 2012 10:54 am You need to determine where the water is coming from. More than likely you need some sub soil drainage. You need to intercept the water before (if possible) it enters the building. This means digging down to a point lower than the top of the footing and lining the trench with forticon plastic sheeting. Then fitting ag pipe in the bottom of the trench and filling the trench up with bluemetal to a point just under the natural ground level on the high side of the trench. The ag pipe should fall to a point outside of the building and then be connected to stormwater. You could also paint the wall with a waterproofing before you fit the sheeting. Id consult a plumber, but one who is conversant with this problem. Check your building warranty if the house is under seven years old. Thanks for your advice. So far i have not noticed any issues with doors and windows. Builder advised they will organise drainers to inspect 2 weeks ago but no further… 7 18952 Just removed 40 liters of water in the span of 2 hours. Water fills up the hole just above the seepage point and doesn't overflow. 1 965 |
