Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jan 31, 2012 3:28 pm Please can you help! I have a cork floor in desperate need of salvage. The original problem was a cork tiled kitchen floor that began to bubble. A workman renovating a timber floor in another room said he could fix it. He sanded it (with a drum sander) and missed some bits and gouged grooves into other bits. He then refinished it with a urethane finish - I don't know what the product was. Not happy, but not in a position to re-do it. A short while later and the floor is bubbling again. I can peel strips of plastic finish from the bubbles off the floor. I decided to "fix" it myself by re-sanding it back to the base. FAIL! I used hand sanders so that, hopefully, I wouldn't damage the floor any more than it is already. It's awful. Although I tried to be careful, some spots are right back to the cork and on other spots I just can't seem to remove the plastic finish, it's like it was sealed with Araldite. Also, the amouint of time that one little square took, I will need to devote the rest of my life to sanding this floor. I would love to call a professional to fix it, or replace it with a new floor, but I'm not in a position to do so. I'm going to have to sort this mess out myself (possibly with help from my friends Can anyone suggest another way to fix this disaster? Thanks. Re: Saving a cork floor disaster 2Jan 11, 2013 10:58 am I trust u have sorted this - interested to know what u did? I have painted a cork floor before with outdoor paving paint - White Knight brand I believe - but sounds like u need to get rid of the original sealer... brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7616 CDC Housing Code 3 When to apply Floor Area external face of wall vs Gross Floor Area internal face of wall.
