Hi All,
I live in an area that termites are known to inhabit - whilst I have a number of weatherboard homes around me, mine is a standard brick veneer only 3 years old. (I'm in Spotswood, Victoria)
The house was termite protected on construction - to be honest I'm not sure what method was used, I assume a spray as I have no 'top up' boxes around the perimeter that I've seen elsewhere.
It's high time this protection was updated - in fact I think I'm around 2 years overdue. I'm wary though - I have a fairly healthy reptile population around my garden. An entire nation of skinks, a small collection of geckos and the odd blue tongue. I've also been known to grow food-producing plants close to to the house. As such I'm looking for the safest alternative I can find - assuming there is one at all.
I'm told that most termite sprays are highly specific and so will not likely have a detrimental effect on other animals around the property .. but I have no idea if this is true.
Does anyone have any recommendations for 'safe' termite protection that can be applied post-construction??
Any tips welcome
Cheers,
Matt
