Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jul 17, 2011 9:48 am I am contemplating putting the balcony railing together myself. Was thinking of 30mm x 30mm iron posts (square profile) 3mm wall thickness for the posts, 1m apart And for the infills iron strips, 100mm apart. I am wondering what to use for the infills - had thought of 20mm x 3mm strips - am not sure this would be strong enough for a railing ? (will be bolting and welding, and probably doing some twisting on the strips for effect). Would be glad for any pointers... Thanks D. Arfur We have a Victorian style ripple iron fence out the front that has some moulded timber capping.
