Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 May 17, 2011 9:21 am Our timber floors have a few fine scratches on them (and a few deeper ones too ). We knew when we put the floors in that scratches are a part of life with polished floorboards so we aren't going to be too precious about them. I have heard about wax crayons and touch up pens that help disguise them. Does anyone know if they are suitable for floors done with Bona or only the wax-finished floors? Re: Hiding fine scratches on timber floors 2May 28, 2011 12:19 pm I dont know if I can offer any help but for furniture scratches Ive used O-Cedar with success, but dont know if its suitable for floors. If its a large area a phone call to one of the reputable flooring companies might be best Arfur Re: Hiding fine scratches on timber floors 3Jun 01, 2011 12:24 pm Uncle Arfur, timber floors are like timber furniture but perhaps need repair and maintenance more often the following hints are from http://www.slfurniture.com.au/furniture-care/ Nicks and Scratches - minor scratches that expose the timber under the finish can be made less noticeable by colouring with a touch up pen in a colour that matches the furniture. Stroke the felt tip of the pen over the scratch in the direction of the grain. Rub off excess colourant immediately with a sft cloth. Polish the entire surface with an approved polish. Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15918 2 4681 3 5589 |
