Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Apr 16, 2011 3:50 pm Hi, I use to have roller blinds over my windows but the other day I went to pull on the chord and the whole roller blind including the brackets supporting the blind ripped from the wall. Now I have a hole where the brackets use to be. The screws used in the brackets only went into gyprock. It did not go into any wood . http://img862.imageshack.us/i/image2gq.jpg/ http://img12.imageshack.us/i/image1jw.jpg/ http://img691.imageshack.us/i/image3xm.jpg/ I want to be able to fix the hole and put up the roller blinds in the exact same spot. Asking if anyone has any advise on this matter. Window size is about 2.4m wide and 0.6m in height. The rolller blind is 2.4m wide and 1.5 in height. It weighs about 5KG. Thanks Re: Fix a hole in my wall due to roller blind 2Apr 16, 2011 5:35 pm You will need A cellulose filler (such as Polyfilla fine) A spatula to put the polyfillea in (I often use one of those plastic gift cards..after I have spent the money on it) Some paint (if you haven't got any of the original paint a matchpot is plenty) A small paintbrush. Possibly some fine sandpaper. A sharp knife. What you need to do is 1. Cut out the loose material. 2. Dampen the solid material with the paint brush and some water. 3. Put some polyfilla in the hole to 2/3 fill it 4. Let the polyfilla harden. 5. Fill the hole up to the top as smooth as you can. 6. Let the Polyfilla harden 7. If still rough sand smooth. 8. Apply 2 coats of paint allowing to to dry between coats. 9. Get screws at least twice as long as the originals. 10. Drill in the original spot and reinstall blinds The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! You will need special plugs for gyprock fixing or toggle bolts etc because gyprock alone is not strong enough to take the fixings.
