Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Apr 12, 2011 9:39 am Hi I am in big trouble and want advice from homeoners I moved into my house for nearly 2 years now.. 6 months after we moved in, we installed a solar panel then the nightmare start The roof where the solar panel installed keep leaking in water, soaking my plaster wall in 3rd bedroom. I called the solar company and they came to check and said there was one broken tile so repair and fixed But then the roof still leak in water and they came back again and said nothing is wrong. So i called my builder who came and said the problem is with the solar panel, when they installed it the bracket lift the tile up and that's why the water leak in. But they tried to fix it for me by sealing the tile (as you can imigine, quite ugle but who care if they can stop the rain leaking in).. but Saturday night and last night, rain again and my plater wall soak again and badly.. the sealer said they would try to come back and called the solar company they don't want to come as they beleive not their fault.. i am so stress out So what i am thinking, as i don't care the cost now, if i want to fix it myself, who do you think i should call? a tiler? or i should find a solar company who fix installation problem?? i am out of option and i want it fix.. can someone direct me to the right direction? i am sick or calling and no one can really fix the issue Please, please advise !! Much better to fix ASAP Re: I really need HELP from Homeoners!! Please 3Apr 12, 2011 10:36 am But it is not the builder's fault. The solar panel company obviously broke the tile on install. Yes the builder tried to help but really he could have washed his hands and said go away. You need to send the solar panel company something in writing giving them a timeframe to fix the problem. Record every discussion in a diary. Then start action via Fair Trading or your state equivalent. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: I really need HELP from Homeoners!! Please 6Jun 08, 2011 10:12 am Hi, If you are in victoria i would call the Building Commission and make a complaint about the solar panel company. Then i would pay a builder to find out why the leak is occurring. Putting a penetration through the roof is always difficult and just sealing the tile will not fix it. You need to find out how the panel is installed, is it fixed to the roof trusses or rafters? then you will need to work out a way of permanently making the penetration waterproof. The Solar Company should know how to do this as they would do it daily, once you have made the complaint to the Victorian Building Commission and know how you want it fixed I would ring the Solar Panel Company and advise them that you have made a complaint with the VBC and that you want the roof fixed immediately. Good luck do not pay until you are satisfied with workmanship windows require flashing over the head archithrave and up under weatherboards 3 28530 Thank you @.
