Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jan 18, 2011 10:34 am Hi everyone - I have just joined after reading for a while and learning a lot. I have a bunch of problems with our new house that need some attention, but this below is probably the most urgent. The whole house is fairly low to the ground and there is little to no ventilation or drainage from under the house. The back walls of the house touch the ground and in places have concrete path poured up over the lowest weatherboard. The back of the house smells quite damp and mildewy. I would just like some advice on which tradesmen I might talk to first about the damp - a carpenter or a builder? a plumber for block drainage? A restumper? (the place has been restumped in the past). Thanks in advance, Andrew Re: Ventilation/draining under house - which trade? 2Jan 18, 2011 3:38 pm Sounds to me as though your concrete path is too high. Unless the path level is below the weatherboards you are most likely to continue to have problems. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
