Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jan 04, 2011 3:34 pm Hi, Happy New Year to all of you. I am not sure if I am posting to the right group. Please let me know if I should post this to different group. I live in a unit. There are a total of 5 units in the block so I have body corporate. I found water leaking at the end of the driveway. I closed the taps on all 5 units to identify if the leak is coming from the pipe before the water meters of after. I found that all 5 meters stop when I close all the taps, but the water is still leaking at the end of the driveway. This indicates that a leak is located before the pipe is connected to the meter in each unit. If the leak is under the concrete driveway, it will be hard to find the leak and costly to fix the leak. My question is: 1. Do I call yarravalley to fix it since the leak coming from the pipe before the meters of each unit? 2. or, do I get body corporate to get the plumber to come to fix it? I pay body corporate fee every year, including insurance. Is this something that the body corporate can claim from insurance? I don't really know what to do next at this point. If I ignore the leak, it will waste water and may damage the driveway as well. If, by any chance, you have the same experience in the past or know what I should do next, I would really like to hear your story how you fix or how should I fix the problem. Thank you. Re: Water leaking from driveway 2Jan 04, 2011 3:54 pm I'm pretty sure that all the Melbourne water companies take on responsibility up to the meter so you should contact Yarra Valley Water. When I worked for a country water board a few years ago it was the responsibility of the property owner from the main so it does vary from place to place. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! My hubby is a plumber, but does not have the equipment, so he and his company use these guys Re: Water leaking from driveway 7Feb 06, 2011 3:05 pm if the leak is before the water meter, then it's not your burden. call your water company, and tell them about the situation. i had this problem, where there was a leak between the street and the water meter. the water company sent out a repairer the next morning, and had it fixed pronto. if the leak had been on my side of the water meter, i'd be the one having to foot the bill.
