Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Oct 18, 2010 12:19 pm Hello Everyone I am after some advice on Skirting Boards Coming Away From The Wall. Our house is 4 years old and some of the skirting boards are coming away from the wall, only on the walls that are an external wall. I am guessing it has something to with the house moving. My question is: Is this normal and how can it be rectified so they will not come away from the wall. Thanks Regards Skuzlebut26 Re: Skirting Boards Coming Away From The Wall 2Oct 18, 2010 5:00 pm You need to let us know what sort of house construction you have. If you have brick internall walls you will need to dowel and nail the skirting back. If you have a framed house then you will need to find the studs and fix back too those (either screw or nail). Some chippys just liquid nail skirtings today. If it is onto gyprock then they say stuck tight, it is onto plastered brick then sometimes the set will pull away from the float leaving you with loose skirtings.
