Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Sep 28, 2010 10:34 am My initial quotes for my laundry from other builders was between 5500 and 6000K for my reno.My builder has quoted me 2 or 3 weeks at an hourly rate to complete my laundry renovation. We are into the 3rd week and he has still to gyprock the walls and ceiling, set joins, waterproof the floor, level the floor with sand cement, batten and tongue and groove with about 2sqm of timber. Then finally tile the floor (about 6sqm). I cant see him finishing this week and I'm kicking myself for paying him an hourly rate. I've already spent about 1500$ on materials. He has been using a hammer not a nail gun and wonder why most builders today wouldn't use one as they save so much time. Anyone have any comments....is he taking too long? Re: Laundry Reno 4Oct 04, 2010 10:22 pm Not many carpenters/builders on this forum. I'm guessing that a nail gun would be overkill for one room so I wouldn't expect it to be used. I can't comment on the cost thing except to say that I would have got a fixed price for the job. Maybe that's the reason he's "slow" and not the lack of nail gun. Re: Laundry Reno 5Oct 05, 2010 3:39 pm Yeah, thanks...I know it was a mistake for the hourly rate...he seemed honest at first but then he got crafty...It was a fair amount of hammering- 2 new stud walls and all the ceiling joists were replaced. He used about 30 odd pieces of structural pine...everyone else I spoke to said they would have used the nail gun. Anyway, too late he's about 3 days off finishing (although he won't say exactly how long, I'm sure HE knows just how long! cheers Hello It is good to have a planned bathroom reno to suit your budget and design, living for 10 years I think you need a bathtub 4 10373 Bought in Nov 21 at the height of the market (classic).
