Calculating the mass of materials was never my strong point....
If I have approx 7sqm of floor, how do I calculate the amount of concrete required to lay a 40mm topping on the floor? I have to purchase sand and cement for this.

Re: Estimating amount of concrete 4Sep 19, 2010 10:38 am Hi Camelia, I cubic metre of concrete weighs 2.4 tonnes. 1 cubic metre = 6 x 50kg bags cement and around 1.76 tonnes ballast (sand & pebbles) & water makes up about 400kgs or litres. So if you need 0.28 m3 of finished concrete, you will need 84kgs cement (not quite 2 x 50kg bags) + 493kgs of ballast (not quite 1/3 m3). You should end up with a very small amount left over...
