Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jul 31, 2010 7:22 am Hi Guy, I am currently building a new house and I am now at the lock up stages. Due to the size of my house which is 304 sqm I believe I might need to install 8 individual soakwell under each down pipe in order to be sufficent or 1 large soakwell at the front and one large soakwell at the back. Problem is I am building in a established area which means the house can only be accessed through the side gate. To make the matter more complicated I have a hot water system installed on the side of the wall to the boundary. Which means it will only give us maybe 600mm - 800mm access room once you take out the hot water system. The other side of the house has a brick wall already built which means we have no access through there at all. We can not access any of the neigbours due to the fact their house are all well established. What should I do here? Should I just go with the smaller soakwells which does not in need of hard digging using machines? Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Will Re: Problem regarding Soakwells. Need help, many thanks! 2Aug 04, 2010 1:20 pm You can link up the soakwells so that when one fills it cascades into the next, or split the downpipe. Just remember to allow breathing space between the downpipe end and the pipe leading to the soakwell. that is the biggest mistake people make. Water in = Air out. Thank you @.
