Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jul 01, 2010 5:22 pm Hi, I have decided to renovated my weatherboard home. The house is on stumps but access is crawling on your tummy! The exterior is just about finished getting painted - looking great! Next on my list - stormwater connection and water tank/s. At the moment all my downpipes just end above the ground. They are not connected to anything! I have a driveway (concrete) down one side where there are 2 pipes, then the rest are around the house over garden beds or a crushed rock path. My soil is sandy and I have no idea where (if at all!) my storm water connection is. My house was built in the 1950s. Can I have pits (I have seen them at Bunnings) installed under each downpipe? What can I do about the pipes that are above concrete? What kind of costs am I looking at? I plan to buy a 3000l tank that two pipes can connect to, but what about overflow? Would appreciate any insights. Thank you! Re: Re connection of downpipes to storm water or other optio 2Jul 01, 2010 9:37 pm There is probably no stormwater connection at all. Is there a fall towards the road at all? Re: Re connection of downpipes to storm water or other optio 3Jul 01, 2010 9:43 pm Thanks for the reply. I am on a flat block. Most of my neighbours seem to have theirs connected. Re: Re connection of downpipes to storm water or other optio 4Jul 01, 2010 10:09 pm Do theirs run to the road? If so its a matter of digging a trench and laying pipe Re: Re connection of downpipes to storm water or other optio 5Jul 02, 2010 9:19 am Council has just informed me that they do not know where my storm water connection point is. Houses built prior to 1970 they have no records for. They have told me to engage a plumber to 'search' for it. My block is 1/4 acre!!! Do I have any other options??
