I would also try cleaning it with methylates spirit (but do a test somewhere in the corner to ensure it does not damage your deck further). Linseed oil would dry fade/wash off a regular timber deck in a year or 2. It might be the same for a plastic wood. If the nothing else works and you really can’t live with this stain – you can apply it to the whole deck (test first that it does not become too slippery when dry or wet). They wait for it to fade off. P.S. Just a food for thought… If it was my deck, I’d try it... But you should decide for yourself… Coca-Cola is an excelled aid to remove many stains, including oily stains on concrete parking (they should really stop poisoning us and change their label to the “Universal Cleaner”). Just poor it on the stain, leave for few hours then wash area with detergent. If you decide to try this – do a test somewhere in the corner first. Re: How can i remove a linseed oil stain from my trex deckin 3Jul 31, 2010 3:59 pm I believe that most of those wood composites are made with polypropylene, a type of plastic. It has very low absorbancy generally, but is still absorbant to oils. It will not readily release the oily stains except by slowly drawing it out with a poultice. Firstly, use a cotton cloth soaked with metho and give it a good wipe, followed by lots of blotting up with dry sections of the cloth. Then make up a thick poultice paste with water and plaster of paris or talcum powder, covering the stain well with at least 5mm of the paste. Place plastic over it and tape it at the sides to seal it. Make a couple of small holes in the top centre of the plastic. After 24 hours, take plastic off and leave the poultice to dry. After it has dried remove the poultice. It may be necessary to repeat the process. Ash. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10970 Hi, does anyone have any experience with using Trex rain escape or EPDM rubber to waterproof a deck so you have dry space underneath. Popular in the US and realize that… 0 3423 I'm about to put down some Merbau. Is it necessary to oil underneath the boards before laying? 0 1921 |
