With a standard 240v 10amp double GPO...what are the recommended limitations for powerboard loads? i,e; how many appliances can I use on each socket and is this dependent on the wattage of the appliance? Re: Powerboards and 10amp power outlets - safety recommendat 2Jun 02, 2010 3:02 pm The are design so that the maximum current you should draw is 10amps. Since current is a function of power and vice verse you should not really use any high power appliances through a power board. eg heaters hair dryer etc. Re: Powerboards and 10amp power outlets - safety recommendat 3Jun 02, 2010 3:19 pm My electrical knowledge is very limited but would a 1200watt appliance be drawing about 10 amps of current? Would 2400watts be the safety limit for a twin 10amp GPO? I wish I'd had more installed when I was doing the reno Not quite, you can have more than 10A coming off the one power point so long as the loads are on different sockets. Ie you have a double/quad outlet. Most residential power circuits are designed for a total of 16A, but limited to 10A per individual socket. Powerboards and double adapters are quite dangerous for this very reason, as it is quite possible to draw more than 10A. That is why it is always a good idea to either not use them or buy good quality ones with in-built circuit breakers. Re: Powerboards and 10amp power outlets - safety recommendat 7Jun 03, 2010 8:49 am Hi AJW i know what your trying to say. But perhaps its not totally clear. Firstly Camalia my comments above was talking about it in the context of a 10am power board (multiboard), and not a GPO. AJW what is being said is that one GPO with two sockets can have a total amp current of up to 16amps. So you can have perhaps 10amp on one and 6amp on another. Your right it wasn't 100% clear what I was getting at, couldn't think at the time of a better way. But your right with your comment, the OP was talking about a powerboard to start with, then changed to talking about a GPO. Hence why I tried to point out that there is a slight difference between what they are capable of. Hi everyone. I am a single mother with little daughter, living in a small tourist town in WA Australia. I am thinking to install security screens to all the doors and… 0 24879 Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors. Thanks 1 14231 2 15465 |
