Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Apr 25, 2010 2:28 pm Hi all. My wife and I bought this house 10 months ago, a post war timber house. Its situated on a slope front left cnr to rear right. We have a very damp dirt floor under the house, due to rainwater from our neighbour is running off onto our yard, and in under our house. The second problem is a downpipe from the roof gutter, that doesn't lead rainwater into the sewerage. How costly would it be to dig a drainage trench to lead all water away from ending up in the mud under the house? thanks Re: Damp problem under wooden house. 2Jul 09, 2011 9:16 pm You can put a fan under the house. least expensive option. If it's runoff from neighbour then new ag lines might be the way to go. U dontnsay how far the lines need to run so slightly hard to estimate costs. Rain water should go into storm water not sewerage system. Re: Damp problem under wooden house. 3Jul 09, 2011 9:43 pm If water from your neighbours property is flowing onto yours it is their responsibility to contain it on their property and deal with it. Have a chat with your neighbour, explain the problem and perhaps see if they will run adequate drainage on their property to a legal point of discharge.
