I don't know if paint does that, but if it does then presuming it doesn't darken any further then the paint patch will end up looking like the rest of the wall. As you mentioned, it might just be a 'give it time' game of waiting Re: Paint color is different!! 5Apr 17, 2010 12:15 pm Three days is plenty. It could be a mis-tint (or the original paint may have been ), OR it may just be the type of finish that really can't be touched up invisibly. Ours is Wattyl ID and you can scrub anything off it, but need to beware of scratches....because you cannot do a touch up without it being obvious. Scratch the wall: repaint the whole thing. How old is the original paintwork? You could try taking the paint back to Bunnings and telling them it doesn't match and see if they can do anything - mix you another lot, perhaps? But if you repaint using a new batch and it still doesn't match, you might have to repaint the whole wall. Re: Paint color is different!! 6Apr 17, 2010 12:28 pm One way to get around this problem (providing is not a complete mismatch in colour) is to re-paint that entire wall side - the fresh paint will never perfectly match the old one and always will look patchy. It's like getting bricks from 2 different batches - you never know what you're gonna get. You could paint that wall in a different colour like a feature wall (if the wall&location etc. lends itself to it, of course). Or re-do the whole lot, or re-do just that one wall, providing that there isn't a really big difference - it could be OK and the corners of the room could help a lot since the light will always bounce differently from each of the surrounding walls. My signature is distracting people from my wise posts ... Re: Paint color is different!! 9Apr 21, 2010 11:02 am Thanks for the replies everyone. It turns out that the tint is wrong. Even when I ordered the exact brand and color!! I had it re-mixed/re-tinted at Bunnings. I repainted the patch last night. Its a lot closer now but still not 100%. I guess I just need to leave it for 2-3 more days and hope that it will blend in. Its actually a feature wall. Next time, we might consider repainting the whole wall. But its quite a big wall so its troublesome. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: Paint color is different!! 10Jun 15, 2010 1:53 pm Bunnings is absolutely hopeless! I do not remember them tinting paint without making a single mistake! You have better chances if to go to the paint shop. Or at least write down the formula form the old tint (not just the colour!) and match it exactly to the new paint. Then check, check, and check again (you’ll find a mistake each time you are checking!) Next time ask you painter to give you left over paints for future touch ups. yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5240 Hi, have purchased a house with 2 single garage doors.
