Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Mar 06, 2010 7:47 am I am currently looking for a handyman to do some jobs around the house that I've been neglecting. Such as cleaning/ replacing gutter, tending to a jammed privacy screen door, some small carpentry repair jobs etc. I've tried looking at various home pages, gumtree forums etc. Every search comes up with far too many listings. I know there are various companies out there such as Hire a Hubby, but if possible, I would prefer to give the business to a sole local(ish) trader. I would greatly appreciate any advice or recommendation Best wishes, Truehorseaddict Re: Handyman in Sydney's innerwest 2Mar 06, 2010 12:51 pm I've used Service Central in the past. You put your job up for tender, ask for 3 different tradesmen to quote you, they contact you, and then you choose. The good thing about this service is that not only is it free, but you can read feedback by other people who have used these tradesmen, and, once the job is completed, you can also leave your own feedback. Re: Handyman in Sydney's innerwest 3Mar 11, 2010 8:31 am Thank you Denis. I've noticed there seems to be a trend towards this type of bid for job sites. If you've had good results from this particular site, I'll definitely consider using it. Had a quick look before and seems pretty straight forward. Thank you for the recommendation. Re: Handyman in Sydney's innerwest 4Mar 12, 2010 11:17 am Hi there You can try Mark from The Handy People on 0404 040 187. Tell him that Charlie from the tile shop passed on the number. I have recommended Mark for plenty little tid bids that people come in the showroom asking for. He is also in the inner west. Cheers Re: Handyman in Sydney's innerwest 5Mar 17, 2010 11:06 am Make sure they are licensed and get receipts for everything...there are some *** ones out there, also, find out their area of 'expertise' eg; a good tiler may not be very good plasterer. speaking from experience. Getting handymen from the local paper can be very 'hit and miss' ...ask for references Re: Handyman in Sydney's innerwest 6Apr 20, 2010 12:46 pm I am probably really late with this suggestion but I absolutely love my handyman so if I can try and promote his wee business I will
His name is Avishay and he has a small business called Red Fig Services. Very friendly and only too happy to help.
