It's a composition of lime, and so the very fine dust with not very good adhesion. Anyway I have a few cracks and cannot, for the life of me remember what is best to repair my cracks with. Also I have an issue with one of the larger cracks being previously repaired with a rubber type of product ie no more gaps So how can I repair that horrible part without destroying the wall further? Any brilliant ideas? TIA People make one happy, not houses? I do not think so. Houses are more to be trusted than people. I think you need something flexible like an acrylic sealant...Sikaflex perhaps? Re: Repairing cracked walls in an older house. I would drill 5/16ths holes , bend up a bit of steel rod so that the flat part of the "L" was about 3mm below the line of the wall and use liquid nails to fit them. I spaced the rods every 100mm and rendered the whole lot in when I was finished . I wet the area before rendering as that helps bind the new to the old . Using this method I was able to repair about 2 square meters of wall that had render crumble out of . In my case I tried 6 attempts with everything else I used falling out . With the house final settlement in 2 weeks you can see a little crack starting to appear on the edge of one of the areas and thats not bad as I did the last repair 4 months ago . I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe.
