Good luck Re: installing a cold water connection in kitchen 3Feb 07, 2010 11:15 am It depends on whether you have the recess tee/mixer in the wall or on the benchyop. If its in the wall, then, no. If the recess tee/ mixer is in the benchtop its possible and not very difficult. Re: installing a cold water connection in kitchen 4Feb 07, 2010 10:31 pm now, this is unfamiliar territory for me...not sure what you mean by a recess tee.... the pipes are buried in the wall with the hot and cold outlets in the kitchen sink cupboard. the dishwasher tap runs off the hot water pipe. there is a single mixer on top of the sink. Re: installing a cold water connection in kitchen 5Feb 07, 2010 11:59 pm It would be pretty easy. You would need a brass tee that had the suitable threads in each end. Turn the water off at the mains. get an icecream container and have it ready to catch some of the water and have a towel under there too. Unscrew the chrome tap (normally chrome) under the sink where the flexible hose goes to the mixer for the cold water. Add another chrome tap and there you go. The brass tee would need, female, male and the right angled tee part would need to be male threaded too. Use a good quality thread tape (not the cheap junk stuff) Wrap the thread tape where the thread starts on the outer edge of the fitting. Then follow the thread round and make it thicker toward the back of the fitting. Should have a good seal Re: installing a cold water connection in kitchen 6May 30, 2010 3:10 pm Hi Fu and VVS, the plumber put the 'tee' fitting on the cold tap and now the dishie runs off the cold...I'm happy about that...it may sound picky but ever since that fitting was placed the water pressure has dropped quite significantly...I guess it's not that much of a problem...just takes a longer time to fill the sink...any ideas why the pressure dropped?
