Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jan 16, 2010 8:31 pm Hi everyone. I had a quick question about rendering a home. Can render be applied over the cement sheet infills used above windows and if so, is it much more expensive than rendering directly on to brick? Also, can render be applied to a timber beam used above a garage door? Our covenant specifies that we must render the home (including sides) and I was hoping to find out if I needed to upgrade from cement sheet infills and a timber beam above the garage door before render can be applied, or whether they can be left as is and save me some cash. Any help would be appreciated! Re: Rendering home, questions... 2Jan 16, 2010 8:41 pm Are the cement sheets Blueboard? Theres no problem rendering over them, The timber beam would need to be sheeted as well. Re: Rendering home, questions... 6Jan 17, 2010 9:54 pm It would depend on the difference but at a guess no. You use different rendering techniques and materials on the two surfaces anyway.
