Want to make sure now it is sealed as a garden is going up against it and dont want water coming in like before and bringing salt rot with it. What can I buy to apply to render to really stop all moisture coming through to interior? dingdong Re: Waterproofing Exterior Brick 2Oct 26, 2009 7:08 pm Personally I wouldn't be putting a garden bed directly up against the wall and more so if you've had problems before. Have you kept the weep holes free of any blockages? otherwise they will cause problems down the track too, with moisture being trapped and soaking every thing within the cavity. Dirk Re: Waterproofing Exterior Brick 4Oct 27, 2009 10:16 am More info needed I think. Is it going above or below the damp proof course? Slab or timber floor? Weepholes, vents or anything like that? What length? What termite treatment do you have? There are places around our house where I would feel okay about building up the garden bed, but not above the damp proof course or too close to weep holes. I've seen houses with built-in planter boxes on the exterior but to have any hope at all that it won't cause problems I think you would need to have it planned properly from the start, taking into account moisture and weight and termite protection and everything. You say you "don't want water coming in like before" so is it a repair you are doing? Is it a planter box that was part of the house design or a built up garden bed added after construction? The area that you intend to make garden bed, needs to be 'tanked' This is not getting smashed and painting the wall The total area within the garden box will need to be coated with a suitable elastomeric coating.
