Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Oct 08, 2009 1:34 pm Hi Guys, I've replaced some cornice in the kitchen, plastered up some holes where downlights use to be, and had a new built in wardrobe installed with bare cornice around the top. I bought some Dulux Sealer/Binder and Ceiling White to paint over the new plaster, but the Dulux Ceiling White is whiter than the current ceiling. I don't like the idea of having to paint all the ceilings in my house so they match. I heard from another renovator that paining contractors put 2 squirts of black tint in their ceiling white so it spreads easier. This would explain the darker shade of white, but 2 squirts would make it more like grey, grey. Unless its 2 squirts to 25 litres? Re: Cieling White Different Shade 3Oct 20, 2009 9:48 pm The paints we buy from dulux etc are purpose made for new homes and some arnt really sold to the public or marketed to the public anyway. For example Hadrian contractor ceiling flat found on alot of volume home builders ceilings that use dulux, have black put in it at manufacture. They also sell a premium professional ceiling flat that is a pure white. its unlikely u'll find true white in most homes. If your origanal builder specified dulux products on your home Id put money on it that its hadrian contractor flat. Re: Cieling White Different Shade 4Oct 20, 2009 9:50 pm theres no specific formula to how much painters put black tinter in, its just alittle bit to ofset the starkness of pure white and to help achieve good coverage, doesnt help it spread easier as its all sprayed on usually. yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5233 Hi, have purchased a house with 2 single garage doors.
