Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Sep 29, 2009 6:33 am Hi! I have a two bedroom weatherboard postwar house which needs restumping. I would like some advice please, on 1. Cost- how much does this cost? My house currently has about 16 steel posts surrounded by concrete. Cost breakdown (i.e. for restumping, fixing the doors/windows after, fixing the cracks on the walls, reconnecting the stairs, reconnecting the gas/plumbing/electrical/phone) 2. Turnaround time- how long to expect until completion? 3. Expectation- any other nasty surprises I might not be aware of? 4. Recommendation- any good restumpers you had experience with? Any help welcome. Thanks in advance! Re: Restumping an old weatherboard house 2Oct 02, 2009 10:19 pm Where are you? How big (sqm) is your house approximately? And do you know whether your walls are plaster and lath, or plasterboard? We're just starting the same process (single storey though) - Archicentre cost guide has a rough estimate, which was not far off the quotes we have gotten so far. I'm a little confused by why you would need to disconnect plumbing, phone, electricity etc? Cheers Re: Restumping an old weatherboard house 3Nov 26, 2009 7:57 pm Hi, We just went through this process. We had a 2 bedroom weatherboard cottage with 24 posts. Cost us $17k all up. 2 weeks turn around time. Not really any nasty surprises, some of the walls needed replacing due to the large cracks from the move. Hope it helps. 2 5951 1 19743 Old Home Restoration / Renovation Hi, just discovered all these junks left behind under the floor. Could any of these be asbestos? Best to leave as it is or clean up?
