Hi Everyone,
I just joined today because I need a little help or advice and don't know who to ask! I figure the greater the knowledge pool the more likely I am to get an answer!
First things first - I have had a number of electricians out but none of them can give me any ideas or an answer. So I need to know - do I persevere with electricians till I find one that can help or am I looking in the wrong spot altogether.
Now for the story -
I bought a house in 2007 which I lived in for the last few years, now I've bought a new house and will rent this one out. The problem annoyed me while I was living there but it wasn't dangerous and the time and effort to fix it is huge, so I just dealt with it as it happened. Now I'm renting it out it needs to be fixed.
Basically every time it rains heavily - and it has to be really heavy, the power safety switch trips out. I have 3 different electrical circuits in the house for power points, it trips circuit 2 out. I would go to the meter box, pull out the fuse for circuit 2 and turn the safety switch back on. All this meant was I couldn't use any power points that were attached to circuit 2 until the weather dried out again. Annoying huh. The house is empty now and there is no appliances at all plugged in so it isn't a faulty appliance.
Now I really need to find the source of the problem but as I said I have had 3 different electricians in who have all put their hands up in the air and said "I don't know"
Am I barking up the wrong tree, should I be looking for a builder instead? Maybe there is a leak somewhere getting into my power.
My initial thought was it was a faulty or 2 sensitive safety switch, but the electrician tested it and said it was fine.
Thanks in advance for any responses!
Michelle
