Any tips? We are told solagaurd is the best. Should we still use an undercoat? Will that save money in the end ? Re: Paint the house 2May 18, 2005 2:24 pm THE BEST WAY TO GET RID OF OLD PAINT IS BY HEAT GUN OR GAS TORCH.
AS FOR THE PAINT ANY WELL KNOWEN BRAND SUCH AS WATTYL SOLAGARD, DULUX X10, SOLVER DURAGUARD ARE NO PROBLEMS I BELIVE MOST THESE BRANDS ARE SELF PRIMING SO TWO THICK COATS OF THE PRODUCT ARE OK BUT PLEASE READ / ASK ABOUT THEM B4 YOU GET STARTED. TIP... WHEN USING ANY DARK COLOURS LIKE BRUNSWICK GREEN, INDIAN RED THEY ARE BETS USED FROM A BRAND THAT HAD THEM PRE MILLED FROM THE FACTORY OR ARE MADE FROM A DARK BASE EG. GREEN OR RED THE REASONS FOR THIS IS COVERAGE AND THEY WILL LAST LONGER THAN ANY DARK COLOUR MADE FROM A CLEAR BASE AND FILLED WITH COLOUR FROM THE PAINT SHOP. EGGENZ 2005 Re: Paint the house 4May 24, 2005 4:24 pm Generally speaking the use of acrylics in exterior situations is recommend. As enamels age they become very brittle and chalky and therefore have a tendency to crack and flake off the surface. On the other hand, acrylics retain their colour better, do not chalk to any great extent and do not get brittle, giving a longer lasting, more durable paint finish. I totally agree with EGGENZ always choose a good brand. We always use Dulux X10 on all our houses. The greater flexibility and UV protection of Dulux Weathershield X10 (Exterior, acrylic), makes it our preferred option. This product comes with an added bonus of a 10 year warranty against blistering, flaking and peeling. Sorry if I sound like a Dulux commercial, I just know when we handover a house we need to feel assured that the products used will endure and reflect the quality we have become known and respected for. Any advice re whether to use Cladding or House Wrap (both with flashing) on a house internal woodern frame that has a "void area" (i.e. underneath upper story, noting… 0 3504 I've got dulux timeless grey on mine. It's heaps darker, but doesn't feel dark at all. 1 863 Any suggestions for new colour roof. Surfmist garage door, posts and gutter 😊 0 1035 |
