Time to find some chairs Cheers, Justin. Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 23May 16, 2009 4:43 pm Thankyou Justin. I am very happy with it. I'm trying very hard to find chairs, but none yet... I'm keeping my eyes peeled Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 24May 16, 2009 5:15 pm Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 25May 16, 2009 5:49 pm Great job on the table, that is a big job you have undertaken and it looks fantastic. Those type of chairs seem to come up heaps on ebay so don't worry if you miss out because I think you will have lots of opportunities. Not sure if I can help you with the colour because you already know how much trouble I have deciding on those things. There are plenty of homeoners though who are great with material choices and might step in with some ideas. I will say though with spotlight they have heaps of sales on and they have some okay materials for good prices so might be worth having a look there, or the place that elephant guy mentioned if you live in that area. Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 26May 16, 2009 6:02 pm Thank you photogirl. How much material did you find you needed? I might go and have a look in spotlight and see what they have in the colours I am thinking of. Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 27May 16, 2009 6:39 pm I'm doing eight chairs. I had to buy 3 metres because it was a remnant roll and that was what was left but I used about 2 1/2 metres. If you want to make sure when you get your chairs take a cover off and take it with you to the material shop. You can roll out the material and see how much you will need. Material store staff are normally pretty good with helping you work out how much you need. Keep in mind that if you buy patterened material you may need extra material to try and keep pattern consistent on chairs. Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 29May 16, 2009 8:26 pm Thanks Photogirl I will wait til I get my chairs then before buying fabric. Thanks Clath. Umm I'm probably slow, but about 8 hrs sanding, 4-5 hrs staining and probably 4-5 hrs varnishing, but I just had it all setup so that I would stain, then wait for it to dry, then stain again. I have just been doing it on and off all week. The longest part was the sanding and staining, the varnishing is easy. I also did the extension bits and table frame first and then did the table top as I didn't have enough room to do it all at the same time. It was really enjoyable though and I would do it again. I am actually trying to find a secondhand bed suite now that I can do in chocolate instead of paying for brand new... Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - photo uploaded via blog :) 30May 23, 2009 12:30 pm I found and bought chairs last night and started sanding last night as well. $140 for the 4 chairs (I missed out on the ebay chairs, but I like these ones better) They will be the same stain as the table and then a red material for the seats. The red goes really well with the table colour. I found the fabric last weekend at spotlight before I had even found that chairs. I was looking at their upholstery fabrics and in the remants box were two bits of fabric in the exact colour and style of fabric I was after so it cost me $2.40 for the fabric ($1 per metre) I now just need foam and calico for the base. I have done all the electric sanding I can do, but now need to do the manual sanding, which I am putting off until next weekend Re: Tips on sanding Dining Table - Found chairs now! 33Apr 12, 2012 1:07 pm I found some Dining Table with furniture supplier.
