Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Apr 18, 2009 1:38 pm hi all recently bought one of those fibreglass 'ball chairs' for the lounge. Unfortunately had some kids over (!) and they managed to not only push it against my brown feature wall and two things have happened: 1. brown paint marks have stuck onto the glossy white ball chair 2. there are some scrapes on the ball chair (separate to the above marks) The ball chair is, I think, made of fibreglass and has a very glossy paint finish (perhaps two pack) Could someone please advise me on how to treat the 2 problems (esp the removal of the brown paint)? I was thinking of using cut+polish that one uses on old car paint. Or turps, or light wet-and-dry (but I'm scared of scratching the gloss white) many thanks Satz Re: please help...how to remove paint marks on gloss white chair 2Apr 18, 2009 6:49 pm I think your cut & polish idea is spot on... I would use Brasso personally. Try to lift the paint first but avoid chemicals that may damage your chair. Failing that just polish until the paint has gone. That seemed to remove the layer of paint! But I'd still like some ideas about how to 'fill in' and buff back gloss paint where the paint has actually been scratched/gouged? cheers Satz Re: please help...how to remove paint marks on gloss white chair 4Apr 21, 2009 8:12 pm Microfibre blocks can be purchased from the hardware shop. all you need is water and they will take most marks off painted or other non porus surfaces. Then a light polish. Try Newlon once a year car polish that won't scratch. I've used that system to remove bug splatters that were on the bonnet of my car for years. cheers Col Nation For information on caring for wool and other carpet and upholstery go to www.woolsafe.com.au Thankyou so much π I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls.
