It doesnt leave streaks and not greasy residue. We also vacuum before we mop which gets all the loose dirt off the floor. We also use a product called Lithofin to clean our ceramic tiles every now and then. It cleans them really well but I think it can eat away at the grout if used all the time. It is expensive but will do a good clean. http://www.hoskindiamond.com.au/category788_1.htm Has anyone used any grout sealant? We did this when we first moved in, after scrubbing all our grout joints. They will prevent dirt from penetrating into the grout and discolouring it. Works well in bathrooms and dry areas. Re: Best concoction for cleaning general area tiles? 22Apr 14, 2009 9:26 am we vacuum and mop nearly daily and even then we're struggling to keep the floor from looking horrible with a 16 month old running around, and trying to feed 2 newborns who are prone to power throwing our floors are terrible, so we're using the domestos to try and keep the germs at bay i'll give the 50/50 vinegar/hot water solution a try to remove the film of stickyness, thanks Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. Tiler is there at the moment cant wait to see them when their all polished up Know where your going in life............... you may already be there Re: Best concoction for cleaning general area tiles? 24Apr 14, 2009 7:01 pm Grout Perfect If you have a film over the tiles try and mix up 50% vinegar with 50% water than mop on and dry off. You can also use a window cleaning solution. Supastar is a great product but it is for maintenance only but give it a go you do not really have to use a microfibre mop try the other mops instead if that helps. Craig so your saying supastar is for maintenance, what does this mean for ceramic tiles, should we be using something else for day to day cleaning? For day to day cleaning YES use supastar neutral cleaner or any cleaner with a ph balance of 7 as your maintenance cleaner specially for ceramics and porcelains if the tile or grout is really grubby than you will need a prof tile cleaner first as we use high alkaline cleaners to restore than rinse out under high pressure. Craig Re: Best concoction for cleaning general area tiles? 27Apr 15, 2009 7:37 am Hels billdsl sounds like way too much effort lisanne, but i think ill look into a good mop, ive already become the vacuumer because of the dyson and its cool'ness hels i read on choice that they dont think steam mops are worth the box they come in and have done fore several years with no improvements lately, they might be chemical free etc, but in terms of removing dirt or grime a vacuum cleaner does a better job, although im sure they werent testing on porcelains Oh no, don't tell me I may have bought a lemon!! Ive got a steam mop and I think they are great Especially in the kitchen anything split or stuck to the floor will come straight off no need for hard scrubbing with the mop. I always vacuum first of course, The tiles come up a treat I was in Metro tiles they said steam mops were great for tiles aswell but not to use them on floorboards, something to do with massive amounts of heat etc will cause probs with the laquer.
