Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Feb 05, 2009 7:16 pm Hello, I'm new to the board and looking for some advice.
We are negotiating on a house at the moment. The house is sitting approx. 8 ft off the ground on steel poles however the poles have been laid directly in the earth with no cement footings. A couple of the poles are rusted through near the ground and the earth underneath is very wet because the block needs some drainage put in as well. My question is, does anyone have any idea how much it could cost to have the house lifted, all the poles replaced and proper cement foundations laid? I am obviosuly going to have a builder throroughly inspect the property, however in the meantime I am looking for a ball park figure. The real estate seems to think the owners have had a quote for $5000, but this seems very cheap to me and I feel it will probably end up being a lot more. So am I looking at $5000 or $20,000+ Any advice in this area would be lovely.
