Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Sep 08, 2024 7:51 am Hi Team, I have an electric gate opener which has been misbehaving. It is about 10 years old, has battery backup, and is sitting on a concrete pad. The symptom is that when I try to open it (by remote or by pressing the OCD button) I hear a click, but the gate (sometimes) doesn't move. At first I thought this was a remote control issue, but the fact I have the same problem regardless of how I fire the gate means I've ruled that out. Then I noticed the concrete pad was a little loose, and I wonder if the problem is that. I tried to test this by stabilising the pad with a big clamp, but the same problem. I assume my batteries are well passed their use-by date, but I assume that isn't a problem. Short of giving it a good clean and removing the batteries, is there anything else I should be checking for? Seems silly to replace without trying to fix it first.
