When we moved in we got the house inspected as well via a professional building inspector and nothing major came out in his report. But after 2 months of moving in we released that every time someone moves or walks in upstairs main bed room, the guest bed room right under it gets a lot of creaking noise, guest room has a big sliding door for its built-in wardrobe, even that shakes as well. We have been ignoring this for few months now but recently realised that its very annoying. We have our parents planning to visit us on-off for next few years and this would be very disturbing for them. I have no idea where to start this from. Any tips on who shall I be calling to check this and potentially fix it ? Any thoughts/suggestions would be highly appreciated. thanks, Re: Creaking noise in town house 2May 19, 2024 9:47 pm hard to fix, it is essentially deflection of the floor, could be the yellow tongue, could be joists at their limit for span etc the movement then occurs between building materials and around screws, easiest to fix is if the yellow tongue is loose and you can lift your carpet, hardest is over spanned joists which would need the ceiling dropped and floor reinforced, start with a builder or experienced carpenter. Ain't that the truth! We used to have a tile roof and had it replaced with colorbond and suddenly everything throughout the entire house sounds louder! 4 7316 Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs. This… 10 13636 Upgrading your windows to soundproof ones, like triple-glazed, can make a significant difference.
