Our wall is rendered hebel and the screw securing the rainhead has come loose from it. I assumed it would be an easy fix but on closer inspection, it looks like the screw is sitting in a gaping large hollow hole in the render with no hebel behind it. Is there an easy fix for this? I’m worried if the wind continues bashing around the rainhead, more damage will be done to the render (there is a already a crack in the render coming out from the screw on the other side thats holding the rainhead in place. I’d like to see if this can be easily diy fixable. Any help would be so great! Thank you Re: How to fix improperly secured rainhead? 2Jan 21, 2024 1:31 pm Wall plugs should do the trick. Depending on the configuration of the rainwater head, you probably want to look at sealing between the wall and rwh. https://www.vba.vic.gov.au › ...PDF Common Roof Drainage Enquiries & Faults – Box Gutters Re: How to fix improperly secured rainhead? 3Feb 06, 2024 12:53 pm I like Cherea's idea of wall plugs. We use 8mm nylon plugs that the roof screws will drill into. The surface area of the expanded plug against the soft Hebel hole has a better chance of anchoring than the screw threads directly bearing into the Hebel. The next trick is to locate the hole where there is Hebel - and not a cavity. Move the hole away from the joint in the Hebel. You can add a flange to the rainwater head (on the sides) to increase the coverage options. Then, silicone the back of the rainwater head before putting the new fasteners in. Not only will the fasteners hold the rainwater against the wall, it will press the silicone into the mating surface to add more bond surface. Good luck Re: How to fix improperly secured rainhead? 4Feb 06, 2024 5:06 pm If the railhead is so poorly fixed it is also likely that the railhead is also non compliant, what about overflows and sealing railhead to the gutters?.
