We've had a few of the downlights in our house stop working, so I figured it was just the bulbs. Took myself off to Bunnings and bought a bunch of new ones. However, when I replace the bulbs that I thought were blown with brand-new ones, the lights still don't work! Is there something I'm missing? If I swap working downlights with the new bulbs, they work just fine. Confused! Re: Replacing downlight globes? 3Nov 02, 2008 3:56 pm How old is the down light?
Mine are getting on, 22 years, I need to wiggle and play around with a couple of mine as the bulbs don’t seem to make contact. Dunno how old they are, but I did a whole bunch of wiggling and reseating and the ones that are blown just don't want to work. I'm guessing the transformer has gone, but I can't believe that all of them are blowing. I suspect I'll have to call an electrician. Re: Replacing downlight globes? 5Nov 02, 2008 8:59 pm I'd say that it's highly unlikely that it's the transformer if a number of downlights have failed at the same time. Have you checked your circuit breakers or fuses? I assume that you may have a wiring issue so I would be thinking along the lines of an electrician. i would consider calling a sparky, i have put up many downlights (being a sparky) and you do get alot of batches where a few transformers dont work even brand new..... so yeah call a sparky and get him to have a look at it 2 8364 Yes, get a builder, make sure he is experienced and a registered building practitioner 5 8977 Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
