Hi
I'm planning to build a kitchen island with MGP10 untreated 70x35. Would this be a good idea? Is MGP10 structural prone to warping usually?
Thanks

Hi chippy, I was thinking to use MGP10 just for the frame. A friend is giving me a piece of benchtop off cut. I wonder if 70x35 will be enough for the 4 legs. Re: MGP10 pine for a bench 4Aug 07, 2023 7:48 pm Are you going to have the frame exposed or are you cladding it with something. Usually if you are making an exposed frame you would use solid legs around 100x100 or similar in the corners and then your framing material can be smaller. MGP10 is usually a construction grade timber. You can get clear pine (no knots or gum) or other hardwoods that are probably a little bit nicer for furniture building. 70x35 is also probably a bit lightweight. Depending on how you are building it, whether you are using some form of jointing or just relying on glue and fixings you may need a bit more dimensionally. Look online for a set of plans. There's plenty available that will give you an idea what sizes are required.
