I work in architecture as a designer and previously have come from construction. We are in the midst of a full new build of our backyard that includes pool, basketball court, deck, and verandah. I am doing this project as an owner builder due to the ridiculous overheads that a pool builder in my area was charging for the model we liked (Only supplier in area). I have this all organised and ready to go. I am not onto the process of organising the deck. I will be doing this myself. I have built decks in the past but due to the shape and the construction of this deck i just have a few things or would like some ideas on the best way to do it. I have attached the plans as you can see the deck is going to need some proper pre planning to get right. 1. My main question is the previous deck and verandah i built i installed wailing plates to the house and fence and suspended the post above the holes due to it being a small back yard. I cant do that here. Using concrete posts what is the best way to get these posts in? I know i can drop them in and concrete but the margin of error is so small and unlike timber you can cut down to size. Also due to the uneveness of the land i dont believe i will be able to use stirrups either as i would have the same issue as the concrete stumps. What would your process to be install these stumps? Do i somehow prop the frame and hang the posts again ? 2. I need to invest in a rotary laser for this project ? would something like this be ok for everything https://sydneytools.com.au/product/cpi- ... tripod-kit Thanks Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Backyard Construction Project 2Aug 13, 2023 8:55 am That laser level looks lovely! We bought one for less than a quarter of that price off eBay. It worked really well for us and it's still going now, five years later. After the house was finished we built a garage and most recently a tank stand. Very handy to have around. It didn't come with a tripod but we find it's just as easy to sit it down in a corner out of the way on whatever flat surface is available. It's possible but a soak well is usually much larger. Your 'soak well' only holds 424 litres when full. What is your soil type? Soak wells need sandy soils. 10 9469 Need advice on the backyard plan above. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 25401 I think I know the answer but just checking to see if anyone has had experience with it. I want to build a small 20 square metre retreat in my backyard, it will have a… 0 14524 |
