Looking to install a manual arm opening awning 4.5m width with an arm extension of 3m. My problem is that the awning bracket comes with a kit to install on concrete or brick wall. I have a fibro home as shown in picture of where I want to install it. Any idea what I should use to install? Appreciate the advise. That is a long reach, so you will need something strong to secure the housing onto. I suggest at a minimum you will need to find the house frame and bolt into that. PS: your pictures are not showing up for me. Re: Awning arm installation 3Dec 14, 2021 12:32 pm arcadelt Etta Appreciate the advise. You will be lucky if the brackets are to be spaced exactly to match up with the frame. If not, you might need to install a noggin or extra timber to widen the stud. If you can do that, then a coach bolt might be the best fixing. Re: Awning arm installation 5Dec 14, 2021 2:52 pm I got this exact awning and same size ( bought from kogan but its sold through several online retailers). I had similar issue hanging the bracket from timber post rather than masonry. I was quite nervous about whether it would hold on, but after 9 months or so hasn't moved so I think its solid. Quotes for a professional awning install were up to $7k so this for $350 was worth the risk. Ideally you should use a nut and bolt so it can't pull out. I wasn't able to access the other side of post/joist connection so couldn't use bolt and nut. So I got the biggest coach screws i could find - i think they were m14 x 175mm or something. As long as you are going into something very solid you should be ok. Just so you know these awnings can't be used in the rain. They slowly fill up with water and sag and will eventually fail with the ever increasing weight of the water. Also a word of warning the extension bars are spring loaded so make sure they are bolted to the awning bar before cutting them loose. 4 14293 I need to replace the worn mohair seal on my sliding window, but I can't get access to the end to slide the old one out & push the new one in. I could probably rip the old… 0 5190 Thanks Simon, I guess I'm no concerned with the volume of the noise rather that dead and hollow sound and feel that is associated with floating floors. But I'm not sure… 3 6141 |
