Has anyone used Dulux Full Cover Texture? If you have used it I would love to see the results. Is it easy to apply? Does it really cover the brick motar joints? Thanks Re: Dulux Full Cover Texture 2Oct 19, 2008 10:34 pm Alrighty. Seeing as I have used the product and sell the product I thought that it fitting for me to post!
First things first....What is the depth of your mortar joints? It is easy to apply. There is a specific roller that is recommended to be used for this particular product. It is recommended that you undertake small sections at a time (1 metre wide say). You dip the roller into the bucket (you will need drop sheets against the wall) and apply a thick layer of the texture with a second person trowelling the surface flat and even. The depth of you mortar joints will be the governing factor as to how many coats you'll need. It is a good product and sticks like **** to a blanket. FYI, you will get around 0.8-1.2 square metres per litre, per coat...and it costs around $120 per drum. Re: Dulux Full Cover Texture 3Oct 20, 2008 8:35 am We have just gone through a process of using the full cover texture. We applied it to 2 small brick garden beds. We couldn't find anybody to render such a small area, or if anybody agreed to do it, they were going to charge over $1k.
So ... we found this product and thought we'd give it a go. I watched the Dulux video which shows you how to apply it ... I'm glad I did because otherwise I would have painted the brick exactly like a normal paint job. It's not a particularly hard process ... our brickwork wasn't particularly straight so it's caused a few patches that aren't so good. But for a DIY job, we are pretty pleased with it and would definitely recommend it. As KWood2 said - make sure there are 2 of your doing it. I had hubby doing the rolling and I did the trowelling. Pics on our blog of our DIY job (still one coat to go to try and fill some of the bad patches). Re: Dulux Full Cover Texture 6Oct 22, 2008 12:44 pm Can the product be used inside the house? How many litres do you get in a drum? Re: Dulux Full Cover Texture 7Oct 22, 2008 2:28 pm signuptesting Can the product be used inside the house? How many litres do you get in a drum? You certainly can; most exterior products can be utilised inside. You can only purchase the full cover texture in a 10 litre drum - with two coats, it will cover approximately 5m2.... Re: Dulux Full Cover Texture 8Oct 24, 2008 9:54 am roughly what is the thickest if you were to apply two coats? Looking at using it for interior brickwork that is flush. As unusual as it may sound, apply it with your roller as thick as you can. If it's too thick, it will fall off the wall. It's hard to give a definative answer as to how thick, but be generous. Jason (the landscape guy) painted over a brick wall to get a bagged effect.
I was really surprised to see how he painted the wall ... after watching the video made by Dulux on how to apply the product, BH&G did it almost the opposite of what Dulux recommended. I'd be interested to know how it looked a few weeks after they did it. signuptesting - Dulux say that you can paint on brick walls that have already been painted. You may have seen my recent post (re: DIY rendering), then in my googling I came across this topic. Does anyone else have some feedback re: this product - it seems like a good option as opposed to attempting to render myself (and should work out cheaper than paying someone to render for me).
