Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jun 13, 2021 8:45 pm Hi This afternoon I bought a non-working GMC air compressor for $20. The model is a GMC AC24L I believe (will check tomorrow in the daylight). I'm pretty sure it needs a regulator of some sort, like this - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154401454221 AND a small piece of copper pipe, something like this - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002308652687.html BUT before I do all that, I will check that the compressor actually turns over. It may be seized for all I know. I was told it was working previously. Can anyone offer advice? Get it going or chuck it? Re: GMC air compressor parts 2Jun 13, 2021 10:53 pm I bought a GMC compressor in 2006 for about $100. Worked well enough for my DIY jobs (Probably but in 2,000-3,000 nails + other bits and pieces before it broke) I put in 1,000 nails in a morning building a deck so that paid me back I replaced it with a similar unit which I bought (before GMC went bust) which I have still got. If that gives up the ghost I would be down to bunnings to buy a Ryobi unit which I see are selling for $129. I would never buy a 2nd hand unit as I would be worried about corrosion on th einside of the air tank. . . . not everyone drains the tank every tme they use the unit.
