Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Dec 02, 2020 3:06 pm Hi All, I am a first time home owner of a unit. Took over the property from a family member and have very little experience with home maintanance. My Ceiling paint has started to peel away in one particular area after a repaint. I have spoken to Strata about finding the cause of the issue but all that aside i was looking for some advice on repainting. I would prefer not to repaint the entire place. Is it possible to use painters tape to tape off the cornices where they meet the ceiling, as well as the bottom of the stair case (outlined roughly in red) and just sand away the paint on the celing of the room and repaint? Any advice woud be greatly appreciated. Cheers! It will be hard to pick the change in paint at those points. But before you paint you have to find out why the original paint is coming off or it will just peel away again, it may even take more off. Depending on what sort of ceiling it is there could be many reasons, from no sealer to moisture or other reasons. Any loose paint will have to be scrapped off and the areas filled and sanded.
