A roof tiler inspection (long story) found that my roof might not be structurally sound, something about beams and purlins? sagging or not in the right spot. Anyway, a builder guy i got to fix it who came in the cheapest quote, said it's all done and dusted. But how do i check? Is there some sort of certificate for insurance i should get? He said not really required. Thanks and sorry f this has been posted before!

Hey Terry, I'm not an expert in legal matters. I'm pretty sure there isn't any certificate for these sort of framing/carpentry work. Your receipt and written record of communications with the builder can probably act as your certificate or insurance regarding the integrity of the work the builder provided.
To check if the builder has done his work:
- get another carpenter/builder to check
- if you want to check yourself. Hop into the roof space to see what the builder has done. E.g. Look at where he has place the props to rectify the sagging roof. Or see what he has done to strengthen any failing structural members. A good understanding or knowledge of framing members/timber structures in buildings will help you with this judgement.

Also, when in roof space. Make sure you are walking on ceiling joists or you'll fall through the plaster. You can also look at other components/members that are hold up the roof and determine yourself if any looks like it's failing or not supported. But best to get a second opinion from another carpenter/builder so you don't potentially hurt yourself climbing up the roof space and walking on joists.

That's very messy work! provided there is a flashing in behind that cladding it should be okay. Normally you want a 10mm gap as the cladding cant sit on the roof tiles (…
