Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Nov 09, 2014 9:08 am I've decided to render my new built brick planter boxes. Watched many tutorial vids and hopefully it turns out well. One main issue is there is perforated brick in some parts of the wall. My question is do I need to cover these holes so render sticks to it, or do I just plug the hole with the render and it should dry and stay solid without ever caving in? Help please Re: Giving rendering a crack 3Nov 09, 2014 4:30 pm Bunnings have free workshops on rendering. You shouldn't need to plug the holes unless your render is too runny. You could just stick some newspaper in them. assuming you mean rendering and not ugly bagging. Re: Giving rendering a crack 4Nov 09, 2014 8:43 pm Are you talking acrylic rendering or the older style sand/cement plaster ? If by perforated bricks you mean extruded like these http://www.archello.com/en/product/extruded-bricks then you ned to fill them first with a stiff sand/cement mix and let it dry before you start to render the wall. That doesn't matter if you are using acrylic or sand/cement. The holes should be filled first. Stewie Most likely poor foam installation and render installation, Joint covered with render, foam could be sitting on flashing. Do you have any render at house 4 9752 yep you need a joint, foam is easiest, will look fine once rendered with a joint. 2 5408 |
