Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Sep 30, 2008 12:24 pm We have recently purchased a postwar. One of the sticking points with me is the hideous glassed-in verandah. It hasn't been done particularly well and the stairs probably need replacing too.
It's only a small area - max of 1.5m x 1m. We just wanted to open it up to a regular wood verandah with some matching stairs. The husband (who is not at all inclined in these ways) is reluctant as he's not sure it "could handle it" Honestly... Anyone know roughly how much something like this would cost? The floor itself is actually really good - we just need the supports, baulastraude etc and stairs done. Balustrade will be $2.50 - $5.00 per 930mm/1200mm length depending on size Stairs will depend on treated pine/ hardwood etc. Re: Rough idea on cost to open up this small verandah? 3Sep 30, 2008 7:30 pm Hi Luke,

Re: Rough idea on cost to open up this small verandah? 4Sep 30, 2008 8:19 pm Its easy enough to do - depends on how handy you are I guess. Re: Rough idea on cost to open up this small verandah? 5Sep 30, 2008 11:20 pm If you're a bit reluctant, grab the local paper (suburb area paper not state) and ring a few handymen/builders and ask for a quote.
That might then inspire hubby to give it a go or let someone else do it. Steve Hi, I'll be starting on my verandah repair soon - replace ledger, rafters, roofing iron, flashing etc. (fascia board already done). My question is about the timber ledger… 0 3334 1 2991 You must be new to the internet. You're also the only person anyone here has ever heard of washing their garage wall.
