Browse Forums Outdoor Living Re: Patio questions 22Apr 22, 2009 1:43 am I do know of someone who had teh completely clear sheets and they found it quite warm. My inlaws had the older stuff that came in a green tint and that also let in a lot of heat as well as light. we had the whiteish one. you got light but not too much heat. and like i said it was only a small percentage of the roof. say 10-20% about 1 in 5 or 6 panels Re: Patio questions 23Apr 23, 2009 11:11 pm Thanks for the information. Guess what??? We got our approval on Wednesday. Submitted the plans last Friday, and had them back in our hands on Wednesday the following week. That is not too bad. We are spending the weekend taking down the existing "structure". Re: Patio questions 24Sep 11, 2009 12:24 am I realised that I never posted any progress pics (and yet I always ask others to post theirs). The old structure was taken down in April, and the new one went up in July. We are still waiting for a decent break in the weather to do the paving. I will update once that is done. Thanks Nott, It's great to finally have some cover out there in winter. Prior to this, we had no outside area that was sheltered from the rain other that the carport. Chris Re: Patio questions 28Sep 16, 2009 10:43 am We put a 170mm box gutter on the patio and added two additional downpipes all leading to soakwells. I've only just managed to get the box gutter ends sealed up but so far it seems to be working (although we haven't had any major downfalls in the last week either). If need be, we will make provisions for overflow in the box gutter ends. Hopefully we won't need to do that with the additional downpipes, but time will tell. Re: Patio questions 29Oct 07, 2009 5:02 pm Wow looks great. We are also looking at putting a patio in. So this thread has been very helpful. Will have to get onto a draftsman up here (Geraldton) i guess and get onto it. Question to Draftsman do you need to see the house to draw up a draft or can i contact a Perth draftsman and have them draw something up? Thanks Re: Patio questions 30Oct 15, 2009 1:09 am Ha! I grew up in Geraldton. I think most people will want to come out and measure up to find out exactly what is you are after and to make sure the measurements are correct. Good luck with your project. Re: Patio questions 31Aug 17, 2010 1:34 am Another very big gap between posts, but I was re-reading this one, and realised, I never posted an update of the paving. http://i801.photobucket.com/albums/yy298/mypatio_photos/IMG_2960Medium.jpg Next to be done is a bench to hide the ugly concrete retaining wall. I have 300 linear meters of Batu sitting in the shed ready for winter to ease up. Then I'll get to it Re: Patio questions 32Oct 16, 2018 1:18 pm Hi, There are a couple of options to tackle this and each has its pros and Cons. It all depends on your situation and if you are willing to forego some things to potentially reduce the price/make it easier. Custom Build Pros - You can get exactly what you want. Every detail is customisable to suit. Cons - You have to take care of all of the design yourself, engage a drafty, get the engineering done etc, Costs can blow out a lot more and will be a lot more per m2. Much more involved as you will need to guide the whole process as you are working from Scratch. No warranty. Using a company like Stratco Pros - Big range to choose from, most aspects are able to be made to suit your design/taste. Pre engineered and drafted so you don't have to worry about that. Fixed Costs so you can budget for it a lot better. Full warranty is provided. Instructions so you can build it yourself. Everything supplied as a kit. They have used efficient building materials. Cons - Have to stick to standard beam type and frame connections. Colors may be limiting Another option instead of a gable is a flyover patio. You get the extra height, open spaces and a great feel for 1/2 the cost in most cases. You can check out some of our jobs at the following link to see how the flyover patio works. https://www.instylepatios.com.au/our-work .In QLD they have pretty much taken over from Gables as they are so much more affordable and cleaner looking with an insulated roof. Thanks for the insights, that makes perfect sense, and yeah, I will be leaning on the experience of the excavator operator entirely. 6 16149 Firstly the ableflex that has been installed needs (manufactures specification) a sealant cap over the top, preventing water draining down between the slab and the… 3 7791 If your patio is going to be 35 sqm then that's going to need Council Approval.
