It all depends on your situation and if you are willing to forego some things to potentially reduce the price/make it easier. Custom Build Pros - You can get exactly what you want. Every detail is customisable to suit. Cons - You have to take care of all of the design yourself, engage a drafty, get the engineering done etc, Costs can blow out a lot more and will be a lot more per m2. Much more involved as you will need to guide the whole process as you are working from Scratch. No warranty. Using a company like Stratco Pros - Big range to choose from, most aspects are able to be made to suit your design/taste. Pre engineered and drafted so you don't have to worry about that. Fixed Costs so you can budget for it a lot better. Full warranty is provided. Instructions so you can build it yourself. Everything supplied as a kit. They have used efficient building materials. Cons - Have to stick to standard beam type and frame connections. Colors may be limiting Another option instead of a gable is a flyover patio.
