Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Apr 02, 2018 9:02 pm Hi All, interested in guidance with regards to pergola design. Planning a no roof pergola covering 3.5 x 4.5m (no roof). Currently have 4 x 125 x 125 cypress posts in the ground at 1.5m spacings. Initial plan was to run twin rafters from each post back to the fascia boards. Reinforcement back to fascia would be via additional fascia plate mounted to roof rafter brackets. As an alternative I would really like to use the same post material (125 x 125) from each post back to house. If I did this, would the same attachment method at fascia board be suitable?? Any guidance would be much appreciated, thanks in advance Re: Pergola design advice 4Apr 03, 2018 11:38 am Thanks for the photos BTW...Rafter sizes are more like 120 x 35mm Do you want concealed bracket fixings to fascia make sure the brackets are fixed/screwed through Fascia and into Rafter ends hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Pergola design advice 5Apr 03, 2018 6:22 pm StructuralBIMGuy Thanks for the photos BTW...Rafter sizes are more like 120 x 35mm Do you want concealed bracket fixings to fascia make sure the brackets are fixed/screwed through Fascia and into Rafter ends hth Thanks heaps! Might give one a go as you suggest. Columns are concreted in to 600mm. Plan is also to screen off with horizontal timber battens so should help to brace and resist bending i think option 2 is much better with easy access to the garden without having to walk through the new sunroom which makes it a better room for guests and TV .a simple… 2 8283 Is there a building permit?
