Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Sep 26, 2017 5:07 pm One of those things I'm kicking myself for not giving more thought to earlier and including on my plans. What options are there/how do I go about creating a waterproof structure for my BBQ to sit up against under the alfresco roof? Area in question is 2.4w x 2.7h. So far my ideas- -Louvres, deck to ceiling. Will enable me to always keep bottom half closed. Quote $3.5k! -Cafe blind installed pole to pole. Downside, would like it to be retractable from the top as we will always want the bottom half covered to protect BBQ and cabinets. We are not very handy although I imagine building a small timber frame and putting some FC sheeting couldn't be that hard. How could we then finish off the back of it so it is a bit easier on the eye? If you are only looking to protect the b-b-q from the elements and for aesthetic considerations, you could buy a nice cover for it. 3in1 Supadiverta. Good point, and you would think no- I have an uncanny habit of planning events in rain- so would be nice to be able to be protected. Other issue is the outdoor kitchen I've looked at needs electricity due to rotisserie and lights in the BBQ, and it's pretty open at the back unfortunately. Silly really! Happy to hear your thoughts! We've also got 2.7m ceilings in our alfresco but it's enclosed on 2 walls You may be right if you stick with the open plan you've got but if you do go with that outdoor kitchen you're going to need to protect it from the weather. Personally I would always now put an outdoor rangehood in. As long as you go for a genuine outdoor model it won't be any more difficult to look after than a standard kitchen one.
