Browse Forums Outdoor Living 1 Apr 03, 2017 8:23 pm Hi All, A bit of a weird idea. Basically we are thinking about creating a outdoor BBQ kitchen which overlooks our future swimming pool. Our alfresco has 2 concrete pillars and we would put the BBQ between these. Putting the BBQ between the pillars removes the wasted space in the area which would have just been blocked by the pool fence. The idea is we can then open the windows whilst standing/cooking at the BBQ and overlook the pool. The obvious problem is how to make this compliant with Australian Pool Fencing Laws. We can't have any open space in the gap between the bench of the BBQ and the alfresco roof as someone could climb over the BBQ to gain access to the pool area. This means we would have to add some sort of screen or barrier to physically stop this from happening. We want to still be able to open the window to interact with the outside space so glass isn't an option. I was thinking about a permanent fly screen or wire balustrade similar to what is used with decking. We want something that won't create an imposing physical presence as it would defeat the point. Photos of example servery windows and possible screen options below. The BBQ in question would be where the red box is marked.
